CONTAINER TRANSLOADING:

Your Company may take advantage of Team Fanok’s experience and expertise by collaborating in determining how your company can maximize the benefits of trans-loading to reduce cost and efficiently ship products and material.

The main conditions for utilizing trans-loading and benefits are:

Palletizing - floor loading is commonly used in loading ship containers to maximize space because of the high cost of transporting a container. Upon arrival at a US port, the shipments may be broken down and assembled on pallets and kitted.  This allows the shipment to be adapted to local laws and regulations.  Palletizing enables efficient handling of goods by fork lifts.

Consolidation – is transferring smaller container loads into larger containers.  Example; three 40 ft. maritime containers onto two 53 ft. domestic containers which is the maximum US legal truck load size.  Rail terminals charge by the lift.  It cost the same to lift a 53 ft. container as a 40 ft. container.  Under these conditions saving will be realized by trans-loading to the 53 ft. containers.

Demurrage – Containers are normally leased for a specific time period. Trans-loading is performed to insure that the leased container is returned to the leasing company without additional charges.

Weight compliance – involves shifting the contents of heavy container loads to comply with load limits regulations in local and/or US long distance transportation of goods.  This is not a common occurrence.

Supply chain management – trans-loading in a supply chain provides the opportunity to perform VAS (value added services).  Also, trans-loading allows assembly of loads designed for a specific market or customized loads to accommodate your company’s needs.  A trans-loading facility can act as a buffer in a supply chain, allowing a shipper to optimize the delivery of the goods with the real time requirements of your company.
